As we work together to maintain a safe and healthy school environment, we want to share important updates and resources available to all Proviso East, Proviso West, and PMSA students and families.
The Loyola School-Based Health Center, located at Proviso East High School (807 S 1st Ave, Maywood), partners with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to respond to public health concerns impacting our community.
As of April 2025, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has confirmed multiple cases of measles in Cook County, including two in the Chicago area—one involving exposure at O’Hare International Airport. This outbreak reflects a growing national trend, with more than 1,000 cases reported across the U.S. Measles is highly contagious, especially for those who are not vaccinated.

Some students may still be missing their Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine. Without this critical vaccine, students are at serious risk of illness and school exclusion in the event of an outbreak.

If your child is uninsured or covered by Medicaid, they can receive the MMR vaccine at no cost through the Loyola School-Based Health Center at Proviso East. This service is available to all students from Proviso East, Proviso West, and PMSA.
