After Halloween wraps up, Westchester’s 6th annual Pumpkin Smash, organized by the Green Residents of Westchester (GROW) in partnership with SBC Waste Solutions, is set for November 2nd and 3rd.
This event offers residents a chance to compost their jack-o-lanterns, gourds, hay bales, and corn stalks instead of sending them to landfills, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and recycle valuable nutrients back into the environment. This year, two drop-off locations are available:
1. Behind Westchester Community Church at 1840 Westchester Boulevard
2. The back of the Mayfair Recreation Center parking lot at 10835 Wakefield Street.
Be sure to remove any non-compostable decorations before participating!
